Anna Cortina Exclusive Interview

Pytón and designers, forming a team

Since 1939, at Pytón we have been accompanying designers on their creative journey. Over the years, many of them have trusted us to bring their ideas to life. Our experience in raw materials and manufacturing has been key in helping them to materialise their creativity and ingenuity, contributing our grain of sand in their growth as a brand.

Today we want to show you what makes Pytón a special place: a space where they not only find materials, but also a meeting point to share ideas and feed inspiration.

With this in mind, we are inaugurating a series of interviews with some of the designers who have worked with us. In these conversations, you will discover how they think, how they are inspired and what motivates them, among many other secrets and curiosities.

Interview with Anna Cortina

In our first interview, we introduce you to Anna Cortina, an extraordinary professional who fuses architecture, painting and leather goods. Together with the actress and designer Mónica Cruz, they have created a collection that reflects passion and style.

Anna Cortina is not a conventional designer. If you ask her about her work, she sums it up with the hashtag #ArtMeetsFashion. These three words capture her approach: the fusion of art and fashion, with a special emphasis on accessories, which she considers essential to any outfit.

Among his most notable creations is the Appaloosa Bag, a bag created in collaboration with Mónica Cruz. This design, steeped in Monica’s Spanish roots, is available in several colours.

Anna is a person with clear ideas. From the beginning, she knew where and how she wanted to manufacture her products, and she prides herself on maintaining a 100% Spanish production. In addition, she is a strong advocate of craftsmanship and slow-fashion, committed to sustainable and quality fashion.

What sets Anna Cortina apart is its innovative approach to handbag production. On her website, you can explore the ‘AC Experience’ section, where you can not only buy her products, but also customise them – you can even choose the artist who will give the final touch to your piece!

Collaborators include Philippe Boonen, Andrea Lukács, Samuel de Sagas, Ghadah Al Ajmi, Ivan Forcadell and Mireia Ruiz. Here, creativity knows no bounds.

In the almost 20-minute interview we shared with Anna Cortina, we learned how her brand came about, what it’s like to collaborate with Mónica Cruz and what inspires her in her day-to-day life. We even played at imagining what her world would be like through other objects and constructions.
