Change of season, time for movies

December 15, 2023

In a few days we will change season and winter will arrive. This time of the year that seems to invite us to retreat and spend time with our loved ones in the warmth of a good fire. Although it may sound cliché, we like to imagine ourselves on our sofa, with a good blanket, contemplating the fireplace and those flames that offer us hypnotic shapes.

We often think of exciting trips to disconnect from our routine, but our economy or family obligations don’t allow us to do so, but let’s not despair, we can escape for a few hours watching a movie from our sofa with a big bowl of popcorn!

As fashion lovers we like to disconnect, but not so much, so we recommend you some films that we love and reflect different genres, styles and eras.

“Funny Face”

Stanley Donen’s classic will never get old.

Released in 1957, this musical follows the fabulous fate of bookstore clerk, Jo (Audrey Hepburn), who becomes a model for a world-famous fashion magazine, while Fred Astaire plays a photographer who helps her become a style icon until she becomes the top model in Paris. Audrey Hepburn’s magnificent costumes are by iconic designer Hubert de Givenchy. The film is fun, exhilarating and a delightful diversion in Paris.Simply timeless.

“House of Gucci”

House of Gucci is an American crime drama film directed by Ridley Scott. It is based on the book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed, written by Sara Gay Forden, and chronicles the circumstances leading up to the murder of Maurizio Gucci by a hitman hired by his ex-wife, Patrizia Reggiani. It stars Lady Gaga and Adam Driver, as well as Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, Salma Hayek and Al Pacino in supporting roles.

Interesting film in which we highlight a perfect representation of the fashion of the time, with costumes, make-up and hairdressing that transport us to the era of the rise of one of the most important family firms in the world of fashion. As a curiosity, and we don’t want to make a spoiler, Gucci was completely acquired by Investcorp and successfully managed until the present day and no member of the Gucci family remains in the company today.

“Cruella “

When it comes to fashion, although in this case it reflects more unconventional haute couture than ready-to-wear, we can’t forget this fun film in which the costumes are absolutely fantastic. Designed by Jenny Beavan, winner of her third Oscar for her work on 2022, it adds a touch of madness and majesty. For that alone, the film deserves to be seen and celebrated.

Pick yours: Lights, camera, action!
